“Jesus Is Coming” The Official Trailer (NOT A MOVIE TRAILER)

This old gem was abandoned in the parking lot of the former church that will soon become our new Holtz flagship store.

Our original plan was simply to tow it to the city dump.  But after calling several wrecker companies, we quickly learned that this wasn’t going to happen.  They all gave us essentially the same warning:

“It isn’t roadworthy. It will probably fall apart in transit.”

Their recommendation? Cut it into pieces and toss it in a dumpster.

Somehow… and I’m still not exactly sure how, but the word got out… that we were destroying a piece of Huntsville iconography.

Then our customer service phone rang… the voice on the other end of line was very interested in preserving the old trailer he even offered to purchase it…

MY THEORY - is that one of the wrecker guys took a picture, that picture ended up on a group chat or in a bar conversation,  which later involved some humorous jokes, and then someone had an idea…  “WE SHOULD SAVE THIS”  There may or may not have been alcohol involved… IDK?  Regardless, the phone call was completely out of the blue.

The interested gentleman soon came out and he was everything you might expect.  He described himself as an eclectic preserver of historical items and he believed this particular object was a “Genuine Huntsville Icon”.  Naturally, I had to ask what he would do with it.

“I was thinking of turning it into a food truck”

I don’t know whether he ever followed through with that idea, but I gifted him the trailer and was happy to see it saved and even happier to see it go.
